MD Paper Pad Cotton

The Paper Pad in cotton by Midori is perfect for sketching or for anyone who likes a little more tooth rather than the silky smooth paper of Midori's classic pads and notebooks. The pages rip off easily but are held with rare security for a rip off pad. Midori uses an innovative move by using a perfect binding on two sides of the pad rather than just one. This way the paper doesn't move around as you write but with one corner edge cut, you can easily flip through the pages of the pad.Cotton is used for 20% of the materials, making it very durable and preservable. Its fibers are longer and narrower than those of pulp, giving it a smooth, pleasing texture with a softness that feels like it is infused with air.

Since the 1950’s Midori has been asking themselves, “How can we update and hone the comfort of writing?” Part of their answer lay in using broad leafed trees with softer pulp rather than conifers. Another part came through using filtered river water rather than treated water. Yet another was to take away the cover from the notebook, which often makes notebooks harder to open and decreases the comfort of writing. Instead they use a cheesecloth tape, often found on the inside of book bindings. Every stage of production is monitored by the human hand. How does the pulp feel immersed in water? How does the page feel when you run your hands across it? How does the pen feel as it slides over the paper?
