Holbein started producing European style paint, in Japan, in 1900. By the 1930’s, they had developed recipes of such quality and vibrancy, surpassing most western brands, that Holbein started exporting these products back to Europe and the U.S. as well as feeding a growing domestic market. The colors blend, layer, and seem to glow from within. After more than a century making watercolors, Holbein paints have only become more refined and more sought after.
