Chiyogami #8
Chiyogami #8
These wonderfully decorative patterns on paper, known as Chiyogami. They are more popularly known as Yuzen in the United States. Luscious, vibrantly-colored Chiyogami papers are hand-printed using the silk-screen technique using kozo and sulphite. In this laborious process each color is applied using a separate screen. Sometimes as many as 12 colors, including gold or other metallics, may be used to create a single pattern. Because we source chiyogami from different studios, the full paper size may vary, but the patterned area is always 24Ó x 36Ó surrounded by an unprinted border on all sides.
Designs are sold as a 38 x 26" roll.
